Gym member app: check-in, bookings and memberships on the phone
The Flexatiq gym member app gives your members QR check-in, class booking and their membership details in one place. It is a progressive web app that runs in the phone's browser, so nobody has to hunt for it in an app store.
Why does your club need a member app?
A member app moves everyday tasks that take up front desk time onto the member's phone. Without one, members phone to ask how many visits they have left, book classes by message and dig for their card at the door; with it, they handle all of that themselves and your staff can focus on the people in front of them.
What members get on their phone
- ✓A rotating QR code for check-in – it changes every 30 seconds, so a screenshot will not work.
- ✓Class booking from the phone, with free places shown and an option to join the waitlist.
- ✓Membership status – expiry date, visits left and whether the membership is active or frozen.
- ✓Children's accounts linked to the parent's or guardian's account.
- ✓The app in English or Polish – each member picks their own language.
How does QR check-in work?
The member shows a QR code from the app at the front desk, and staff scan it to get an instant result: entry accepted, or refused with a reason such as an expired membership or no visits left. All check-ins are visible live. Because the code changes every 30 seconds, it cannot be passed on to a friend as a photo.
Turnstiles with QR readers, which let members enter without staff involvement, are currently in pilot deployments.
Do members need to download the app from an app store?
No – the member app is a PWA: members open a link in their phone's browser and add the app to their home screen. It works on Android and iPhone, never needs an app store update, and your club does not have to publish an app of its own. Members receive their invitation link by email.
Booking from the phone
The schedule shows upcoming classes with the number of free places. Members book with a single tap; if a class is full, they join the waitlist and are added automatically when someone cancels. They can cancel themselves too, and if they do so at least 2 hours before the class, the visit goes back onto their membership.
Which clubs it suits
The app is the same for every type of club: in a gym it is mostly used for check-in, while in a dance studio, CrossFit box or martial arts school it is mostly used for class booking.
